About Dr. Naomi Potter
I am a GP by training with specialist interest in Menopause care. I have worked in the NHS for 16 years and as a GP with specialist interest in menopause and women's health for 9 years.
I am passionate about providing holistic care to women in mid-life and I offer a bespoke menopause service. I run weekly menopause clinics from Groves Medical Centre, New Malden, Surrey UK.
Menopause symptoms can range from the classic 'hot flushes', night sweats and low libido to less definable ones. i.e. 'Im not myself,' 'I don't know what's wrong with me', 'I cant cope and I don't know why'.
GP's can have little experience of managing the menopause and may be nervous about prescribing HRT in the light of evidence over the last few years You may feel unsure which way to turn. If this is the case I can help. If you are struggling with the menopause but for whatever reason do not want HRT I can help with this too.
I am a Diplomate of Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health. I am a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and member of the British Menopause Society. I have a wealth of experience in treating women at my NHS practice and also under the mentorship of Mr Nick Panay former Chair of the British Menopause Society and current secretary of the International Menopause association with whom I still work closely.
Because I have worked as both a GP and Menopause specialist I have experience in treating the menopause in the context of other health problems. Mental health issues, cardiovascular problems, metabolic issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, gynaecological conditions for example can all affect and be affected by the menopause. My breadth of experience enables me to see the bigger picture when consulting with a woman.
Aside from medicine I have a large family of 5 children. I enjoy spending time with my family, travel, adventure, food, running, cycling, and a good glass of wine!
